Internship

Completion of Student Internships for First-Cycle (Bachelor’s) Students at the Faculty of Management

1. General Provisions

Student internships constitute a mandatory element of first-cycle (Bachelor’s) study programmes at the Faculty of Management of Wrocław University of Science and Technology. The purpose of internships is to achieve the learning outcomes assigned to the internship course, gain professional experience, and verify and develop competencies acquired during the course of studies.

Detailed rules governing the organization and implementation of internships are specified in the document: Rules for Completing Student Internships (Annex 0).

Professional internship:

  •  is mandatory for all first-cycle students,
  •  lasts at least 4 weeks and includes a minimum of 150 working hours,
  • may begin no earlier than during the fourth stage (semester) of studies,
  • must be completed before the start of the final stage of studies (in exceptional cases, with the consent of the Vice-Dean for Student Affairs, completion during the final semester is permitted).

 2. Internship Modes
The internship may be completed in one of two modes:

  1. Individual mode – completing the internship in a place independently selected by the student (company, institution, organization).
  2. Recognition of professional work – recognition of work performed (employment contract, civil law contract, volunteering, etc.) as an internship, provided that it complies with the required learning outcomes (minimum employment period: 3 months).

3. Individual Mode

3.1. Activities before the internship

The student is required to:

  1. Select an internship placement consistent with their field of study. The scope of duties must enable the achievement of the learning outcomes assigned to the internship.
  2. Prepare – in cooperation with a representative of the host institution – the following documents:
  • Internship Compliance Assessment Form – Part I (Annex 1)
  • Framework Internship Plan (Annex 2)

The Framework Internship Plan must include:

  • internship period,
  • scope of tasks,
  • at least 4 internship stages,
  • a minimum of 2 detailed activities described in each stage.

    3. Submit the documents to the Dean’s Plenipotentiary for internships for verification of compliance with learning outcomes.
    4. After obtaining a positive opinion – obtain the document signed by the Vice-Dean for Student Affairs:
        Internship Agreement (Annex 3).
A condition for issuing the agreement is having valid accident insurance (NNW) covering the internship period.
   5. Submit a copy of the agreement signed by all parties to the Dean’s Office before the internship begins.

3.2. Activities after the internship

After completing the internship, the student is required to submit:

  • Confirmation of Internship Completion (Annex 4), signed by the employer’s representative,
  • Internship Compliance Assessment Form – Part II (Annex 1).

The Dean’s Plenipotentiary for internships performs:

  • verification of compliance between the internship implementation and the framework plan,
  • assessment of the achievement of appropriate learning outcomes.

A positive assessment is a condition for passing the internship. The final decision on completion and the grade is made by the Vice-Dean for Student Affairs.

 4. Recognition of Professional Work

A student performing professional work may apply for its recognition as an internship, provided that the duties performed are consistent with the learning outcomes.

4.1. Documentation

The student submits to the Dean’s Plenipotentiary for internships:

  • Work Compliance Assessment Form (Annex 5)
  • Confirmation of Activities Performed (Annex 6).
  • Documents are prepared in cooperation with the employer (employer’s signature required).

 4.2. Application

After obtaining a positive opinion from the Plenipotentiary, the student submits:

  • Application for Recognition of Work as Internship (Annex 7).

Lack of compliance between the performed work and the learning outcomes results in refusal to recognize the internship.

The decision is made by the Vice-Dean for Student Affairs.

 5. Deadlines for Submission of Documents

Complete documentation must be submitted:

  • after the winter semester – before the start of the summer semester,
  • after the summer semester – within 10 working days from the beginning of the winter semester.

Failure to meet deadlines may result in the internship not being credited in a given cycle.

6. Final Provisions

  1. The internship must be directly related to the field of study.
  2. The student is required to reliably document the tasks performed.
  3. Documentation must be complete, properly completed, and signed by authorized persons.
  4. The Faculty reserves the right to verify the course of the internship (on-site inspection).
     7. Importance of Professional Internships

7. Professional internships enable students to:

  • gain professional experience,
  • develop organizational and interpersonal competencies,
  • become familiar with the realities of business operations,
  • verify their own professional predispositions.

They constitute an integral element of preparation for entering the labour market.

For any questions regarding internship organization and the interpretation of learning outcomes, students should contact the Dean’s Plenipotentiaries for internships at the Faculty of Management.
