Aim of UTTERLY
To contribute the modernisation of higher education systems in Ukraine by introducing universities centres of teaching excellence for promotion of European educational innovations by professional university teachers’ certification.
UTTERLY Objectives
1 To modernise the formal system of university teachers’ professional development and certification in Ukraine by establishing of 9 independent Centres of Teaching Excellence, as well as creating their network, focusing on enhancing quality of university teaching;
Creating CTEs will provide an opportunity for university teachers to get an alternative, quality and affordable opportunity for certification of excellence and the right to choose a place to achieve it. This option will increase motivation to improve professional qualification. Using of successful European experience in training courses will improve teaching process and provide better education for students. Creating CTEs and alumni network will provide massive and sustainable influence for qualification development in higher education system of Ukraine. Within the framework of the project will improve educational infrastructure (opening 9 CTEs) and raise the educational potential of higher education. Ukrainian CTEs will be supervised by European Universities during active project period for better learning international experience.
2 To introduce the professional university teachers’ certification programs based on European good practices and education innovations for ensuring teaching excellence;
Certification program will be developed joint European and Ukrainian experts. CTEs will provide higher education certification program based on good practices and education innovations. During the program university teachers will be evaluated according to the European standards. After certification database of university teachers will be created. During the project, professional standards for university teachers will be developed and regulation for university teachers attestation will be improved.
3. To develop and pilot a new teaching excellence curriculum based on teaching excellence framework, including courses syllabi and MOOCs which are permeable with education needs of academic communities in Ukraine and resulting in professional certification of university teachers.
Teaching excellence curriculum will respond to the current challenges in higher education and will take into account professional profiles of modern university teacher. Certification will allow to improve excellence in European teaching innovations. The learning process will be richer, more interesting and useful for students. University management will get more proficient staff, retrained in EU. The system of pedagogical skills development will be improved. Launching new certification processes encourage teachers to personal and professional growth.
